Check the stability regularly and tighten the screws when needed. Please note: The wooden posts in this scratching tree are natural products. Good to know
- Push the post or tree firmly before your cat uses it: if it wobbles, anchor it to the wall with the fixing kit.
- Place a scratching post next to where your cat sleeps or in front of furniture it already scratches.
- Offer both a vertical post and a horizontal scratcher to see which your cat prefers.
Common questions
How tall should a scratching post be?
Tall enough for your cat to stretch out fully on its hind legs with front paws extended, plus some extra. For most adult cats that means a much taller post than the small ones sold for kittens. The base must be heavy or fixed so the post does not wobble.
Is sisal or carpet better for scratching?
Sisal is usually the better choice. It is hard-wearing and gives a satisfying shred, while looped carpet can snag claws and teaches the cat that carpet is for scratching. Some cats also love cardboard scratchers.
