This beautiful, large wicker cat basket from Aumüller is a great size for large cat breeds and small dogs. The metal door is attached to the basket with three buckle straps and can be completely removed. It is plastic-coated to prevent rusting. There is a handle on the top of the basket so it is easy to transport your pet. When the metal grille door is removed it becomes a cosy den where your cat can hide away and feel secure and protected. Just add a warm, soft blanket or cushion to turn it into a really comfortable sleeping place. Good to know

  • Check the weight limit of window perches and radiator beds, and test suction cups and hooks regularly.
  • Older cats need a low entry and firm padding, placed where they do not have to jump.
  • Add a worn jumper or the cat’s old blanket to give a new bed a familiar smell.

Common questions

Do cats prefer open beds or enclosed dens?

It depends on the cat. Shy cats, cats in busy homes and cats that feel the cold often prefer an enclosed cave or igloo. Confident cats and those that sprawl usually prefer an open bed, ideally raised with a view of the room.

Why won’t my cat use its new bed?

The location is often the problem. Move the bed to where your cat already sleeps, raise it slightly and add a familiar-smelling blanket. Many cats need a few days to accept something new.
