Hill’s Prescription Diet includes a variety of clinically tested, therapeutic foods for treating a variety of different conditions in dogs and cats. Hill’s Prescription Diet Feline c/d Multicare Urinary Care Salmon can help to promote urinary tract health and reduce the recurrence of urinary stones. FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease) is a complex disease of the lower urinary tract which is often related to crystal formation in the urinary tract, a painful condition for many cats. The two most common types of crystals that form in the urinary tract of cats are struvite stones and calcium phosphate crystals. Struvite crystals and stones usually develop because the cat’s urine is too high in magnesium, ammonium and phosphorus and it also has an alkaline urine pH. Good to know
- Cover opened cans and trays, keep them in the fridge and use them within the time on the pack, usually a day or two.
- Serve wet food at room temperature: take it out of the fridge a little before feeding or stir in a spoonful of warm water.
- If you feed wet and dry food together, reduce both portions so the total matches one day’s ration.
Common questions
How long can wet cat food be left out?
Wet food is best lifted after an hour or two, and sooner on warm days when it dries out and attracts flies. Opened cans and trays should go in the fridge, covered, and be used within the time stated on the pack.
Why does my cat only lick the gravy?
Many cats like the flavour and texture of gravy or jelly more than the chunks. Try a pâté or loaf texture, where there is nothing to separate, or a different chunk size. Make sure the leftovers are not the reason your cat is underfed overall.
