Dogs of large and very large breeds go through an intensive growth phase in the first two years of life - they increase significantly in size and weight. It is therefore particularly important that their food is rich in nutrients and carefully balanced during this time. Eukanuba Premium Nutrition Junior Large Giant Breed Chicken was specially developed as a transition food between puppyhood and adulthood and is specifically designed to meet the needs of young dogs in their second year of life. The high-quality dry food contains lots of fresh chicken, which serves as a valuable source of protein - essential for building and maintaining lean muscle mass. Good to know
- Switch foods gradually over 7 to 10 days, mixing a little more of the new food into the old each day.
- Weigh daily portions on kitchen scales. A scoop or measuring cup can be well off, and small errors add up over months.
- Keep kibble in its original bag inside an airtight bin, so you still have the batch number and best before date if there is a recall.
Common questions
Is dry or wet food better for dogs?
Neither is better in itself: both can be complete and balanced. Dry food is cheaper per day, keeps longer once opened and is easy to use in puzzle toys. Wet food contains much more moisture and tends to appeal more to fussy or older dogs. Many owners feed a mix, reducing each portion so the total stays right.
How long does an opened bag of dry dog food last?
Once opened, kibble slowly loses freshness as the fats react with air. Keep the bag rolled tightly in an airtight container, away from heat and damp, and follow any guidance on the pack. If the food smells stale or rancid, or your dog suddenly loses interest, replace it.
